One thing I would say with all brokers - check the paperwork that you get through.
More than once I've had the detailed paperwork come through on email, only to find that the details are not quite right. And we all know how insurance companies like to wriggle out of paying if they can...

I will add, from my experience with Admiral, that I could only add a limited number of mods. Don't put this on the list as a fact, as it may have changed, or it may have just been for young drivers, but they said on the phone I could only add a certain number of mods to the car.
Thought that was a bit weird.

I just renewed with Adrian flux. After calling them to get them to drop their renewal price.
Not many specialists would insure me. They basically said, nah we wouldn't be able to beat that. One even said nah your area is too affluent and we can't insure a missed car there...

Multi car policy required for import and a winter runabout.
Just been quoted over 2k by Adrian Flux and that was just for a shed of a Focus without the Eunos on the policy.........

Contacted sky for a multicar quote, couldn't cover me because of the CAT back? ?? Bloody cars are 20+ years old , they're nearly all going to have new exhaust systems!

Looked at a single policy for a second car, found some companies that offer discount based on how many years claim free driving history, not your ncd. Not bad prices tbh, although I couldn't understand why a Alfa gtv ts should be cheaper than a 1.6 focus?

Adrian Flux is a name which keeps popping up on different forums. I will give them a call when my engine swap is finished. Who else is a top "go to" insurer from your list? I hate phoning up loads, so just a couple of options will do. Great thread, saves me head scratching!

try Adrain Flux and Greenlight :-) Also if you're prepared to do 'classic car' insurance try Footman James ?

I use Brentare, been with them for 9+ years & mrs for ~4 (she was under 25 when first insured through them & they were cheaper than everyone else especially for the mods....) have my modified t4 van, modified Landrover Discovery & modified B3 Passat with them at the moment & will be adding the Eunos this week and maybe my mk2 golf in the summer as to fux, good luck & it's your choice, they went through a time when policies were cancelled without warning or notification fux will not have my money....................... Rich.

+1 to avoiding Adrian Flux: - they dicked a family member about and it took a solicitors' letter to extract a refund from them, - they 'forgot' to send me a reminder that my insurance was due, which could have meant I'd have been bent over for 6 points and a massive fine (and maybe having the car seized) if I'd been spotted/stopped, - when I reinsured with them as soon as I realised, just so I had some cover, they claimed on the phone I had a cool-off period and could just cancel if needed, only paying an appropriate proportion of the year's policy - but when I tried to do that, they wanted £400+ out of me (so over half the premium) and I ended up stuck with them for the rest of the year - quotes would come through on paper for the wrong mileage, wrong number of seats, wrong NCD, wrong modifications... Greenlight have been alright as a broker in my experience, but make sure to check ALL the details on the forms when they come through - the small details like number of seats being wrong makes me wonder if they'd try to use it to not pay out (because you didn't correct their 'errors' )

I'd consider going with one of the 'specialist specialists' in the back of evo magazine or similar - the ones who deal with rare cars and the like - as you don't want the pain of trying to fight for what you insured it for with a crap broker/insurer! Classic Car policies don't usually allow you to gain No Claims Discount but it might end up cheaper if you do that and have limited mileage per year - worth asking the questions, anyway!

I'm currently with Footman James. Agreed valuation, 5k miles and a classic car policy. I think its £200ish with all mods declared, Inc turbo. Plus the wife on the policy who has points and accidents.
