So I accidentally bought 2 more MX5s today, bringing me back up to 5 5s. To summarise ...
1 - 1991 1.8 V limited in British Racing Green. My main car, now caged and some throttle bodies are being fitted to it.
2 - 1990 1.6 V limited in British Racing Green. Cheap but mostly solid, road legal and everything! Will drive this around until my main car is on he road, which could be a while!
3 - 1991 2.0 Eunos in Silver. Zetec conversion, awaiting a new home.
4 - 1990 1.6 Eunos in Silver. Imported in 2008 then taken off the road ( for a change of brake pads) in 2009. Garaged since so very solid but in need of recommissioning.
5 - 1997 1.8 Harvard in Silver. Very tatty but complete ... one of only 400 made I think. This one comes with TV, DVD and 17" alloys no less!
Soooo .... not sure exactly where this is leading, but there are cars coming up cheap once in a while and there are a few people doing the rounds on the forums and facebook, buying them all and breaking them which seems a shame if they are solid or rare cars. I'm hoping to sort these cars out properly and put them back on the road so they can live another 20 odd years. And maybe I'll sort mine at some point but I'm quite enjoying messing about with the others as well so no rush I guess!

I asked about another 5 as a project and I was told "it's up to you" which we all know is a dare and we shouldn't do it, so I'm a little jealous of your collection

I asked about another 5 as a project and I was told "it's up to you" which we all know is a dare and we shouldn't do it, so I'm a little jealous of your collection I get a similar response, but my wife is one in a million ... she actually means what she says!! I've only had "the stare" once, when I was going through a kit car phase. I had a kit that I was building from scratch, so that was in the garage and there were 2 donor vehicles (Sierra XR4i for the running gear and a Focus ST170 for the engine) on the drive. It was taking a while to build so I bought another kit car to run around in while I was finishing it. I decided that one needed tidying, so I took it off the road one winter to give it a refresh. One thing led to another and it got a new engine, spring came around and it wasn't finished so I was going to buy another one to drive while I finished doing the bushes on it. Considering we had a company car each as well at the time I guess I shouldn't have been surprised at her saying no ... but I have to admit I hadn't even considered she might! So I bought a motorbike instead, they take up less room ... Russell.

Forgot to add some progress pics of the green one ... managed to pick up some wheels that kind of match the tan interior, also fitted my tan drivers seat and gearknob while I do a light refurb on the ones from this car Managed to find a few bits for the silver 1.6 as well ... a tidier steering wheel and a full stainless exhaust. Main job is to sort the clutch though ... having complained about the rain for ages I'm now going to complain that it's to hot! Next step, hopefully my BRG track car will be back in a few days and I can start the rebuild ... once I decide on what's going to power it! Russell

those seats... so lush. what are they ? Made by NAR in Japan, for the NA MX5. Not seen another one in the UK, one came up on Yahoo auctions in Japan but it was red, I did think about buying it and getting it re-covered but it went for £800 before the shipping and import tax!

My car came home today ... at last! The cage has now been fitted so pretty pleased with how it looks now ... A few issues, like it's now got a cracked windscreen but I had some time to go round the car and make a list ... it's a huge list so I'll need to prioritise things carefully if I'm going to get the car on the road this year ... so obviously I picked the most important job and got stuck in So the seats are fitted and I can now sit in the car and make Brum Brum noises. Not really done much on the green car ... seems like I've managed to buy another one though! This one has a few too many cylinders and some (hopefully) easy to sort issues so might make it on the road in about a month or two ... probably just in time for me to completely miss the summer!

Sooo ... while waiting for enough spare time for me to rebuild my Green car, I got bored and bought another one, the one mentioned above with too many cylinders. I could put it on the road pretty quickly, but have decided it's worth doing properly, so will sort a sill and the diff mounting properly. So while I'm waiting for that to happen I bought another 5 today ... ooops!
Pics to follow, but my drive is looking pretty bad at the moment!

Quick update with some pics ... was aim,ing to get rid of a few cars so I could concentrate on my "main car", the caged V Special but that's not how it worked out. First I was told about a very cool car that might be for sale ... chased it for a few weeks but nothing was happening, so when I was offered a G Limited cheaply I jumped at it Really ratty so may just be a breaker if the rust underneath is as bad as I think, but it's got some half decent running gear so didn't want it to be scrapped just yet! Then the other one I had been chasing happened ... so suddenly I was out of space! Managed to sell the Zetec car to a friend as a shell for his track car, so that allowed me to collect the coolest project I've had in a while! Nice Carbing 6 point cage with harness bar and door bars ... but the main attraction is the engine! So now the drive looks like this ... And with the green car due to come back pretty soon, I think I need to finish my garage clearout quickly so I can get one hidden away! Russell.

Not a bad way to fill a drive! Excuse a silly question, what is that V6 engine in the blue one?

Not a bad way to fill a drive! Excuse a silly question, what is that V6 engine in the blue one? Nissan 300zx, not the obvious choice but 230bhp as standard sounded like a good idea, especially as most of the hard work has already been done!! Russell
