On gardening leave for 3 months, so I'm looking but not with that much urgency yet ... no tick there Just bought a car ... and feeding my family is overrated 🤣 So how did I do?😇 Russell

Hope it pans out :-)
Envious of 3 months gardening leave. I worked too hard this year to compensate for the previous one and I just need to take more time off now.

In my continuous quest for knowledge and answers to those oh so important questions, I can officially confirm that "this many" is too many ... hoping the silver shell will go pretty soon🤣 PS, are images working properly? I can't see mine, unless I click on them and open them up Russell

Was waiting for you to post here, big enough driveway so not too many yet. Pic works for me fine.
Look forward to more updates.

Thanks all, lots to do on the Pitcrew but I'm really pleased to have found one at a time I can (kind of) afford it
Main thing is to get it on the road and then ditch the Mk2 dash that really doesn't suit the car! I'm also intending to redo the purple tartan door cards (yes, really 🤣!!) and various other interior bits to get a more classic / retro look.
The Star Sharks are nice, but basically don't fit ... they are 4 x 114.3 with adaptors and stick out past the wheel arch so aren't legal. I'll look at options but sone type b Watanabe wheels would work nicely

Progress here & there ... I've started stripping the engine out of the Mk2.5 VS. Hopefully I'll get it over into my track car fairly quickly although it's all being done outside so I've had to stop for the last few days because of the snow! Managed to find a few parts I needed as well ... got my new suspension and ordered my seats, so there's not much left to find The Pitcrew hasn't moved forward much ... still waiting on a friend to MOT it, and I don't want to swap the dash over until that's done. I've managed to find a nice Arrive one sided style bar though, so that can go in when I get a chance Feels good to be mobile again ... I've left it for as long as I could and my back feels pretty strong now so hopefully that will hold up Russell

I've managed to buy a Mk3, been looking for a while but this one came up at a good price, so I jumped in. It's a basic 2.0, so in theory nothing exciting ... it has an LSD but just a 5 speed. A while back, the 2.0 engine did what a lot of Mk3 engines seem to do, and started knocking. Luckily the owner decided to take it up a notch and fitted a 2.5 litre engine from the US. The rest of the car has been left pretty much standard ... it has a sports cat and a Cobra back box (yuk🤣) but standard wheels & tyres, suspension etc I don't have a set plan, but I'm hoping to improve it as I go along ... suspension, wheels and a better manifold could happen at some point but for now it's just nice driving something that's not my Skoda! Came into the thread looking for a Pitcrew update and there's a sodding mk3 Not what I expected. Do you know where it came from? There was one similar up this way I was trying to convince my Dad to get as his next project. If the swaps already done that's an excellent base to start with, long as it's solid underneath!

I didn't know the US got a 2.5 litre engine! More power and torque? I would have thought that front end lift would be interesting at high speed if they've only added a massive ducktail and no front bumper extension... lol

It definitely needs suspension sorting out and I'mlooking at front lip options ... although I have a feeling the ducktail wasn't a performance mod! Russell

Got a load sorted on the Mk2.5 import ... starting in the engine bay, got everything stripped out of the way and then pulled the engine & box out Then carried on inside the car, stripping everything out of the way to get the dash out. I had the usual moment where I think I've disconnected everything and go to lift the dash out ... but it won't move! Sent a few messages to knowledgeable friends, and confirmed I've forgotten to unclip the heater control cables 🙄 Eventually got the dash out, and I managed to get all of the wiring completely stripped out of the engine bay and fed through the bulkhead into the footwells. Bad light stopped play, but there isn't loads left to do ... one piece of loom under the car, and the loops to the rear lights, fuel tank etc. Once that's done, the rolling shell can go off to it's new home Also managed to have a look around the Mk3, and confirmed the 2.5l engine looks identical to the 2.0 engine. I managed to tidy the car a bit ... removed 2 carrier bags worth of rubbish from under the seats, in the boot and in the glove compartments and various cubby holes. It looks like the upgraded RX8 switch gear has already been fitted, and I decided I'm not a fan of the carbon gearknob that's fitted. I had a delve into my gearknob collection and shortlisted 3 that might work ... it's amazing how much they differ in weight! 580 grammes 385 grammes 185 grammes I'm torn between the two Cylindrical Carbon ones ... the larger one is about the same weight as a standard gearknob, the smaller one is a bit heavier so I'll probably use that one for a bit and see how I go The Mk3 has a ducktail, so to counteract the significant downforce this may create and ensure my front wheels stay firmly on the ground, I've bought a front lip. Hopefully I'll get it fitted over the weekend and maybe even make it out for a drive! Russell
