As it was asked on the other forum, here are some pics of them off but up! They've still got the plastic film on them from the packaging here, but hopefully you can get the idea. (I forgot to take some pics this morning, d'oh!) I've got one more from a standing position next to the car but Tinypic is being a bitch and demanding I 'press play' to get an anti-spam code to type in, but this computer can't play them... Hopefully if I try later it will just upload it straight away! EDIT: Here ya go.

Just to say in the interests of being open, I did have an issue with one of mine - the dipped beam bulb connection kind of burnt out in one of them, resulting in the dipped beam section not working alone, only when lit up with the other section to create the main beam. Whether it's an issue with a potentially knackered alternator not providing a solid voltage, I don't know, but I am sure I read they are supposed to adapt from anywhere between 9v and 20v (or something like that). Either way, the seller replaced it free of charge (bar shipping...) and all is good again I ran with the OE candles for a while - ZOMG I had forgotten how bad they are, they are actually dangerous IMO! V6 has experienced these ones so can probably offer an unbiased comment

I can't believe it's been two years since I fitted these!
I also can't believe they're still working perfectly (he says, jinxing them immediately...) - not something I expected from a Made in China product.
The light output is still excellent and seems to rival some of the stupidly bright LED systems on new cars, although it's not as ridiculously excessive/blinding as a few of the new systems (that drive me Canoeing insane on the motorway, grrrr).
My MOT man says that they will probably have to come out next year for the MOT, though, as they don't have that sharp cut-off line that OEM kit has when dipped - I'm going to see what alternative options there are nearer the time, or will just swap to the dangerous originals for MOT day...
What I really want to do is see if I can custom-build some units using some of the stupidly bright new systems that are around (laser main beams off an Audi, anyone?) but that would be a bit of a mission. (And expensive, unless anyone here works for Audi or at a scrapyard that deals with Audis!)

First time I've seen this, they look great!
The original £100 link doesn't work, lowest so far is £219 on ebay atm... will keep looking.

Reading up - it looks like these are the Trucklite copies (Lite Truck?) that you can get on fleabay?
I've got a set of the original Trucklites on my defender and the cut off is very sharp, the MOT man hasn't passed any comment on them. They are fully ECE marked so should pass with no issues.. At some point I'll get something similar for the '5 as they really are a whole load better than even the raybrig style clear lenses with uprated bulbs!

There are so many different versions out there - in China, it seems that you can buy each part from different manufacturers and put together 'your own' product on the wider market, so you have no idea exactly how good or bad a given product might be! Mine were stated as having 8k output instead of 5k output (although I'm not sure exactly what it means... lol) so were different to the other (5k) ones that I saw at the time. They do have quite a pronounced 'X' in the beam patterns, but it seems quite good that way because you get good brightness up each verge when driving and to the side when turning, without getting flashed by people coming the other way. (I don't think I've been flashed once!) I'd be interested to see the beam pattern on the original Trucklites, although I'd hope it would be better, given they are, what, 600 quid? lol I'll have to have a look round to see what options exist now, but I'm busy busy with a lot of other stuff at the moment!

I'd be interested to see the beam pattern on the original Trucklites, although I'd hope it would be better, given they are, what, 600 quid? lol Original Trucklites are about £300 now - but I paid less than that on a group buy from a landy forum... There's a few other options that are about that are similar price (Britpart Lynx Eye etc, Wipac LED). There are also JW Speaker / Nolden / Vision X which are £600 and above... If I have the camera out one night I'll take a pic. There are gen2 trucklites out since I've got mine which are supposed to be brighter and with a slightly better beam pattern than mine (mainly close up, not the beam cut off. The main thing is that they are ECE approved - the super cheap ones you can buy from china aren't, so technically you can't use them on the roads, and if the MOT tester is on the ball will fail them on it, and your insurance may get the hump if you have an accident..
