Hi, I've long suspected my oil pressure sender on my pre 93 eunos is on the way out. I tested it with a multimeter and this confirmed my suspicion. My question is can I swap in a new one without draining all my oil?
I have an oil change coming up soon anyways I'm just curious if I can take a short cut because I'm lazy....

I'm pretty sure you can - if the engine is off and has been left for a while / overnight, the majority of the oil should be in the sump, I believe!
I think the same should be true of the oil filter!

Ok so, I've got the new to me pressure sender. I've tested it and it appears to give the correct resistance. I'm now trying to figure how to replace the damn thing. Access is almost impossible. I have the 17mm spanner to fit the correct part of the sensor but it is so close to the block I can't get to it. I am tempted to use a large socket on the top of the sensor but I've heard that the housing shears when this is done.... Any ideas?

It would be a lot easier to do if the inlet manifold was removed. Trouble is, it's a time consuming fiddle to do this. It's a good opportunity to have a good look at that side of the engine though.

Hmmm yeah I did consider coming from the top by taking the intake manifold off. I also thought about taking the drivers side wheel off and coming at it from the side/underneath. I did this once when changing the oil filter. However, I did that by hand. I will try that in the next few days.

ISTR it has a bsp tapered thread, can’t you shift it by hand? Assuming you haven’t done the coolant bypass mod and can no longer get your hand in....

Forget the idea with the socket I don't have one big enough anyways. strap-wrench? like an oilfilter removing thinggy BUT I'd remove the manifold, an excuse to replace the injector-seals, the 'devil' plug & have a very good look at the small* (8mm id) coolant pipes from the inlet manifold to the throttle-body & then the 'thermo-valve' (doo-dah on inlet manifold above injectors) and noto the thermostat housing * had a problem on my car with the one that joins the tb to the inlet manifold, cannot be easily seen but was cracked to bits & actually failed when I gave it a cursery 'poke' Rich.

From memory, hasn't this got a small hex at the base of the sender?... It will be a pig, but you should be able to get a spanner on it - once it's 'cracked' you should be able to spin it out easily.
