If I ever get mine back together and MOTd I'll have to take a trip to see you - mine's got the skuzzle regrind cams in it, which have a nice lumpy idle but still drive well If it ever stops being 40 degrees / raining sideways / blowing a gale, I'll actually get it finished!

my car still has a 1.6 in, I have a complete 1.8 conversion in the shed & another in bits (both for sale) but I prefer the 1.6 partly as a competition class limit and I think it's a nicer engine even if it has less power - sorta feels 'right' in the car Rich. People say they're more rev happy, but I can't say I've ever really noticed to be honest. Both engines are pretty similar, the only one that's really different is the VVT.

Ah i didn't know that, have you got a standalone ECU or have they just been dropped in on standard management?

Welcome back to the fold! from my experience, the rougher the car is the less you worry about it and the more you enjoy thrashing it! But when that get's boring, trying to get it looking tidy....what a pain in the hoop

The rougher the car is the less you worry about it and the more you enjoy thrashing it! The irony of shed ownership!

I can kick the door shut and not care, if someone hits it in a car park not the end of the world. But then again it would be nice to actually fix it up properly, just going to take a lot of work.
