so, I'm going to replace the rear hubs on my car, I've some spares so can clean / paint & fit bearings withohut taking the car off the road BUT... I have a pair of rear hubs from a 1989 car and a pair from an NB / mk2 (possibly from a later car due to a fuji diff?) I know the wheelstuds were altered but have read that the NB's have slightly wider track & geometry at the rear & the hubs / uprights are responsible for this is there actually a diference or is it just the wheelstuds AND is it worth bothering with Rich.

Also, in the intrest of knowlege ... it seems that early & late driveshaft OUTER cv joints are interchangable on the driveshafts themselves abs rings aside, they seem to be identical from '89-'05 driveshafts themselves are a diferent story Rich.

Hi Zed, I think you will find that the drive shafts will interchange. You need to pull the four bolt flange out of the diff and fit the later shaft. I think the uprights are the main difference between MK1 & MK2 the Hubs and wishbones should interchange.( See MX5 Parts for fittment info ) We made a hub puller at work, we broke the first two designs, then success with the Mk3 I seem to remember about 15 tonne on the gauge. The puller was attached by the wheel studs with a cage to take a portopower jack.
Have fun !!

You need to pull the four bolt flange out of the diff and fit the later shaft I'm going from the earlier '6"' diff to a later '7"' setup so that's no issue (from a 4.3:1 to a 4.778:1 ) my reference to shafts was the outer cv interchangability looks to be full-speed ahead otherwise... and as to your 'puller', I'm in the process of making a 'mk2' so know the problems with those bloody flanges..... Rich.

already read that , although it refers to identical 'knuckles' (uprights / hubs etc. ) so I'll probably use the best of the collection Rich.

Hi Zed, The Mk3 consisted of a bit of round tube fitted over the hub inside the studs, four tubes over the studs welded onto said tube, wheel nuts holding it onto hub, then two heavy steel straps going away from the hub with a plate across the end suitable for the available portopower device. It is hiddden in the useful tool store in the Fab shop at work, Unable to access it for a couple of weeks as away from work at moment.
PS remember to keep your nuts in place to prevent a nasty suprise. !!

I'm working on a piece of 10mm plate wih similar framework for the cylinder (I have a few available) just waiting for it to rise up the priority list (OR I get bored with the itb's and go to this project...) Hi Zed, You might be able to help me with something I am trying to do here. Could you please measure the distance between the two four bolt flanges on your Na diff, face to face, and also the diagonal distance between the four flange bolts.
Thanks in advance, Tony.

Thanks in advance, Tony. the only diffs I've got with the bolted driveshaft flanges are early mk1 (pre '93??) 6" diffs, both still on my cars. are these what you're looking for OR do you mean the ('93-'97??) 7" diff used in the later mk1's? I can get you a (mk1 pre '93) driveshaft flange bolting dimension easily BUT unsure if this is same as the later Rich.

Hi Rich, yes the early 6" bolted diff flange to flange measurement if you can. Also shaft diameter if possible.
