SPAL are relatively cheap (under £80) and quite excellent and slim. I don't think the ones cheaper than theirs are worth it .i.e. not that much better than the OEM. The right size for our cars is 12" and.. it needs to be a puller not a blower. In my case I went for VA10-AP50/C-61A. Other option worth mentioning: Davies Craig Cool thanks for the recommendation. Would I be able to get away using just one of these fans? How easy are they to mount? I will definitely not use cable ties.

One fan will be more than adequate, best to use one of the fitting kits to mount it, similar to cable ties but straight, they hold the fan tight against the matrix. Have a look on Demon Tweeks website, they have a good selection of SPAL fans and fittings. I have used one of the high output ones with the curved blades in the past, very powerful and quiet (not that you would ever hear it)

Personally I don't like the 'through mount' setups where you put some metal or plastic things through the radiator, are particularly nice. I think it's easy to damage the core with them (not that I've seen it done, it's just my gut sense) I think making up some ally bar brackets between the mounting points on the rad to the 'eyes' on the side of the fan is a better setup. obviously if you wanted to mount the fan outside the normal areas on the rad, you'll need to probably go with the 'through mount' method in the regular places, ally bars

Thanks for all the help guys, think I have found the problem though. Thankfully looks like a leak from a hose from the thermostat to the intake, but was causing all the other issues. Just need to find the right replacement now haha. Cheers for your help! I forgot to reply in this - have a look for the Stoney Racing hoses if you want to change to silicon: mighty5s.com/post/35847/thread
