I havent been on here much recently so I thought i'd give a quick update on my vehicular situation at the moment.
The only real constant in my life in terms of cars is my scruffy black Eunos (5 years - longest owneship ever!) - it has served me well but unfortunately has not been able to have much fun this year due to the lack of motorsport. I have had some great drives out in it though - still a great car, though showing its age. (did need to replace the clutch for the second time within a year because the gearbox seal filled the bell housing with oil!)
I started the year with a Jag XFS - lovely car, bought to replace the S type R, bought to replace the X type etc etc. Last year I bought an old cheap Freelander 1 1.8 petrol which was actually great and reliable until the rad went whilst off roading on Salisbury plain. I liked it so much that I thought I'd upgrade to the V6 auto version and get rid of the Jag which was sitting there doing nothing! I (luckily) sold the XF just before lockdown.
I purchased a low mileage Freelander 1 v6 auto very cheaply (found out why later) which appeared to have mostly simple to fix issues. I sold the 1.8 Freelander and began driving the v6 around, thats when the problems surfaced. to cut a long story short I have now done a full engine rebuild and spent a few quid on it but once I started I had to finish - however it has some wierd electrical probelm so is stil not finished.....
Meanwhile my local garage gave me a call and asked if I would like a 2001 Rover 75 kv6 auto with only 50k miles, at first I declined and then i thought - I could use it to test the electrics on the Freelander. It was v cheap and drives lovely so at the moment its my main car!
in the last 10 years while I have owned about 10 cars my wife's Fiesta has gone about its business with hardly a hiccup, straight through MOTs, easy and cheap to service and maintain. Theres a lesson to be learnt there!!
I am so impressed with the Rover, it is such a smooth and pleasant drive, much better than the 2 older Jags and probably better in some ways than the XF - though that is probably down to the Rovers small wheels - big tyres. I think the reg is probably worth as much as I paid for the car!!
the current 2 (the 5 is tucked up in the garage - SORN for the winter)
