Have to also agree with Howard. A bit of an exaggeration maybe, but suppose you had huge forced induction power, and had to change gear four times to reach 60Mph. Would that be fast ?
One thing that never failed to amuse me about having a supercharger, 5-speed and 3.6 was not changing gear to reach 60mph. Pull away easily in second, wind it out, 60mph with revs to spare. can do that with an early 1.6's 4.3:1 fd although that is with 8200rpm according to the calculator screenshot was taken when I was working out what my car will be geared to (although maybe having more rpm's to play with ) I'm using second-6th in a 6 speed (as a dogleg 5 speed) with a 4.778:1 and I'm probably not brave enough for limiter in top not that I'd expect to have enough torque for that...... Rich.

Hi Folks, With the stock RS Ltd you can not reach 60 MPH in second gear with the stock ECU rev limit. With the ITB RS Ltd, ME221 with a raised rev limit 7800 RPM I can now hit 60 MPH in second gear pretty quickly. I am happy with gearing of the five speed box. The Mazda gearchange is always a bit slow due to the synco. I can change from first to second in the Austin Seven with a three foot gear lever and crash gearbox faster than in the Mazdas, One has a Mk 2.5 gearbox fitted ( to replace the one that a bearing fell out when the staked nut came undone and fell into the bottom of the box along with the bearing ) I still drove it from Exeter to Beaulieu and back to Plymouth like that. (just used 2nd 3rd and 4th)
I have yet to hit the limiter in 4th in the ITB car, I have found it a few times in the stock one though !!! ( Never in 5th Yet )
