As a new joiner, just thought I'd introduce myself, my little Mazzy hits 30 next Year, I've already hit 60 this Year, but I still luv her. *Black Eunos V-Spec J plate. New Hood last Year and I am now looking at some new alloys, I have 17" Alloys on currently but they are over 10yrs old and well past their best. MOT due at the end of this month, hopefully she'll fly through.....U never know these days... Welsh by birth but lived in Essex/ Galleywood/Chelmsford for past 35yrs! *My other Toy is an RX8. Hope to get plenty of info and advice on the few little niggly jobs that keep cropping up to keep her on the road. Regards Paz

Welcome to the forum! 17s on a mk1 tends to be an unusual choice these days - it's all about the unsprung weight! lol Have you tried it on some OEM lightweight 14s? I swear I could tell the difference just dropping from some heavy 15s to the 7-spoke hollow-spoke 14s Looks good, though There are always niggly little jobs to do, it would be boring without them, lol.

you can pick up nice light 15s and the tyre selection is lu-ush. also, the car looks better, drives better.
14"s woo if you can find them.
welcome!

Hi guys, thanks for the welcome. I was actually looking at 15" or16" replacements with deep dish chrome rim or similar, with black or gold centres, been browsing some piccis of MXs with different colour and style wheels to get an idea of the look I'm after. With the 17" she's pretty much like a go-cart on the road any pothole or impurity sends a shiver up your spine..so I'm looking for a smoother ride these days. Only trade off is cornering stability I would think but hopefully not to much. Just replacing the Electric aerial, couldn't find anyway to test where the fault lies in the unit itself, but given its 29 yrs old something has probably failed, the workshop manual didn't really help at all... so ordered a stubby non retractable.
Bigger item on my to do list is either refurbing or swapping out my seats, drivers side as with all Mxs has worn through terribly on the bolster, did some recon late last year in regards to getting them patched up or totally refurbed in leather, but may do a swap out for a newly leathered set but that seems to be circa 500 notes or more...but hey ho..
I'll wait for the MOT pass first and then make a call on some new boots first I think, any suggestions of what wheels would look best on a Black Eunos? I'm leaning towards 16", Would Gold with Chrome Rims?
Cheers Paz

any suggestions of what wheels would look best on a Black Eunos? beauty is in the eyes of the beer-holder totally your choice as what someone else likes could cost you to try & maybe replace if you don't like personally I like deep-dished 13" minilite styled wheels but..... Rich.

Thanks for that link, some great wheels on there, spoiled for choice, but just what I'm looking for, still debating weather I go for 15" or 16"...will the ride be that much softer with just 1 inch difference, I dont drive her hard into corners like i perhaps once did, so possibly go for comfort over cornering capability, and deepdish minilites allways cool..
Also now thinking about going for 15" 225, I have 205's on currently, would I require spacers for 225's?

Welcome aboard! car looks nice in the photo, the wheels look huuuge! Don't see 17's on a Mk1 often as mentioned above I went for 15's on mine, personally they are as big as I wanted to go but each to their own of course I also bought mine from Driftworks and was a good service at a decent price

Avoid the 16s your just adding weight and worse ride quality, for a mk1 15s is the best option, 14s probably better overall size/weight but thats negated by the lack of tyre choice in 14s in the UK (Japan/US get Direzza's, we do not). 15x7 et25-35 on a 195/50R15 should bolt on without any issues, and ride nicely, and aslong as they are a good light wheel should handle better. Depending on what you're after, and what you're willing living to live with in the pursuit of looks/performance you can go a lot more aggressive on width's, offset and tyre fitments. Just pick something you like the look of really from a reputable brand. Depending on what dampers are on the car you could further improve the ride quality, mine was on OEM Bilstein, the ride is so much nicer after swapping them out for Tein adjustable coilovers

15x7 et30 195/50r15 is king :-) - wide enough even for moderate power increases, fits perfectly.
going 205/50r15 is alright too if you want your wheel at that spec.

Nice, looks classy on those They look like a total PITA to get brake dust out of, though lol How do they compare weight-wise to the 17s? Have you noticed a difference in the driving 'feel'?
