I feel like this car should have daisys or oem enkeis instead of the 5 spokes. Deffo would like to get some daisies for it. Did you mention you have a set?

So it's been a while since my last post, but I haven't really done very much! My little car continues to be a complete joy to own, and it still puts a big grin on my face every time I get behind the wheel. It's always been 100% reliable and starts first time whenever I take it out, even if it's been a few weeks in-between. The hardest thing to deal with has been resisting the urge to drive it too much during winter, with all that salt on the roads! I have done a few odds and ends: - Treated my rusty rear parcel shelf (it was inevitable that I would find some rust somewhere). I have actually now removed the shelf again as I am working on a rear-shelf speaker install (more on that in a later post).
- Finally found the source of the world's most annoying squeak/rattle coming from the boot area. Turns out it was caused by a missing bolt on the metal shield in front of the fuel filler pipe. The shield was rubbing up against the bodywork on the side of the car. It's the best feeling when you fix a rattle - ahhhh bliss!
- Swapped out the oil for a 0W40 fully synthetic. Seems to have sorted out my intermittent lifter tick problem
- Adjusted my base idle as the engine was running a bit fast
- Installed some super-bright LED sidelights:
And then, after a year and three months, I finally received the clear front indicators that I ordered. It's smartened up the front end a lot. Here's a few pictures:

That's properly mint! Lovely car you have there pal. The rear lights could do with burning but as you say, they're not for everyone haha

Personally I like the more modern look, but I may get bored of them in time. As with all my mods I've kept the originals though so it's an easy job to restore them back to OEM.

It all looks really nice though mate, will be watching your thread with jealousy haha

So a couple of weeks ago I did a super many honour deal with josho for a rather tasty set of Watanabe wheels. I've been keeping an eye out for some for a while. I really like the look of them on an MX5 - they look as though they could be OEM, but with a more sporty feel to them. They are also exceptionally light, which in theory helps with both handling and performance, as the suspension doesn't have to work as hard to keep the wheel on the road, and there is less rotational weight to spin up and slow down. Here they are after I had the tyres removed on Saturday: They look great, but they do definitely need some work before I'm ready to put them on the car. The barrels have a few scuffs on them, and the spokes have been badly repainted at some point, which is now getting pretty flaky. So my next step will be to have them professionally refurbished, as soon as finances allow. I've been researching a couple of companies online, and have also had some recommendations from people. In the meantime, I propped one up against the car to get an idea of how they will look when they're fitted, and OMG! I also took one upstairs to weigh it, and they are pretty damn light! Looking forward to getting them sorted out and on the car. Hopefully they should be done in time for 5Fest next month!

Yep, those wheels are a win Depending on where you area based, I'd highly recommend thewheelspecialist in east mids - did an excellent job of my BR8's, not cheap but v good quality finish.

I'll check them out. Not too bothered about location really, I'm more concerned with finding a company that will do a good job of it
