I picked my Eunos up in January but yesterday was my first decent daytime run out. Figured it was a nice day to get some 'Before' photos... I'm aiming for a retro/oem type look which hopefully will develop over the coming months. The interior is a bit tired and despite how it looks in the photos the paintwork doesn't hold up to close inspection either - nothing time with someone who knows detailing can't fix. So in addition to the retro tweaks I want visually, there will be a full restoration there. Oh, and I want the suspension and chassis to be as sorted as possible. So not much on my plate...

You forget how pretty they look without a roll bar. Very nice!! Cheers! Every fibre of my safety conscious existence wants a rollbar but then I look at those simple lines...

So, I figured today would be the perfect day to spend 15 minutes giving the interior a bit of a vacuum. Didn't want to do much, and I did have a photo to take... So I make a start, carpets, centre console, round the gearstick... You know that noise which sounds exactly like one of the hex screws from the gear surround trim going up the dyson? I didn't know such a sound existed until I heard it. Twice. I was actually quite surprised, normally I thought screws that were screwed in stayed screwed in, but not these, oh no. So I decided to take the surround off, I planned on restoring it anyway and I wanted to know why those pesky screws were needing to be recovered from the dusty overstuffed bowls of the vacumn. It's only a little piece of trim, how hard can it be? Harder than it looks, apparently. Turns out that the hex screws have a nut on the back which after 140k+ miles can work it's way loose. And you need to take the centre console out to get at them. On the plus side, the surround is naturally very well secured! On the minus side, I saw the state of the lower shift boot. Since I was here, I decided to fit the new gaiters I had bought. 15 minute job an hour and a half later.

Mrs Rikk raised an eyebrow when I announced I was going to take a picture of my knob. Fancied a pool ball.
