The four cylinder M42 and M44 are definitely not loved by the Bimmer guys hahaha! But they definitely have a much stronger and better dimensioned and much better engineered bottom end than a BP. I am really dragging my feet with this project, but it was always to be a non urgent long term project anyway, and it needs time to be all thought right through. The basic engine is fairly straightforward, its the twincharging part that is taking the time. And there are too many other unfinished projects around here right now as well. I hijacked the "Longer Conrods" thread over at Flyin Miata, as this beast does indeed have much longer conrods, I thought it might be of interest to some of the more radical people over there. forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=727566&highlight=rod+ratio&page=2

It's the average car enjoyer's RWD whip of choice, around here. But I want E30 or older. There's a while E30 a (aging boomer american lady) friend of mine drives, which is quite well maintained.

It's the average car enjoyer's RWD whip of choice, around here. But I want E30 or older. There's a while E30 a (aging boomer american lady) friend of mine drives, which is quite well maintained. A nicely restored E30 fitted with a later six cylinder engine would make a really nice project car. All the more recent B M W offerings are really larger and heavier than I really want. At least here in Australia, they have cracked right down on engine swaps, larger displacement engines than what came originally in the the car est verboten.
They don't seem to care much about emissions over here, but if it has a V8 in it, and its not supposed to have a V8 in it, that means very big trouble.
If any copper looks at my engine, all he is likely to notice might be the original cam cover with "Mazda" clearly visible. And that is the basic cunning behind all this. Also the turbo will be there mainly to reduce noise, believe it or not. Noise being the number one cop magnet.
Most of the boost will be coming from the supercharger, I get all the advantages, and I believe I can keep it quiet enough to not draw any unwelcome attention.

Piezo buzzers are used in many types of common products to produce an acoustic beep as an audible indication of some kind, have been for many years. What is not generally known is these can also do double duty as a sensitive microphone, while still performing the sound creating beep. So its entirely possible that many objects around the home, vehicle, or office that occasionally "beep" as part of their normal function, may also be listening to you !
