Hello fine people,
I just bought a complete turbo engine, clutch, ecu, exhaust from someone as I want to go turbo. This is everything I need to get a sweet 200+bhp. Now, do I swap the engine over or do I import all of the turbo Gubbins on to my existing engine?
I have plus points in both camps. My existing engine has had three oil changes in the last year and all the belts done. The new engine has a fresh clutch and lightened flywheel.
Is it easier to swap and engine and ecu or is it easier to turbo my existing engine and swap the clutch over?
The reason for the dilemma is I need a new clutch before I boost anyway, so why not use the one already attached to the new engine?
Thanks in advance you kind bunch!

When I asked about a new clutch, I was told easiest way is to remove the engine and box. I ignored this and it turned into a bit of a chew but we managed.
I'd say swap engine if you've the space and skills.

If you've already got the engine out...do cam belt, water pump, coolant reroute and anything else that's a bitch to do while the engine is in the car!

thank you. I was looking and could only find the IL Motorsport one. That looks like a better value option.

I'm gonna say swap the engine.
you can clean it to an inch of its life before it goes in, you can do the coolant reroute, you can drop the sump out and clean out the drill swarf by hand, you can do a bit of engine tucking on the reassembly...
But most importantly, the engine you have at the mo is an unabused minter... Perfect for a bench build! Get the new one in, then build the old one and swap it when it's ready.
