Just to ask a noob question... ... what's the sump capacity of the 1.6 and 1.8 NA lumps? Assuming that's how much oil to buy (??), if we're doing an oil change do we need to account for extra for the oil filter too? Sorry, common knowledge to most, I'm sure lol

Great link, cheers! 5 litres @ £16.65 + VAT @ £4.72 + £6.95 delivery = £28.32, which seems a decent price

Just checking against Halfords, everything there is £36+ for 5 litres - the 'big name' stuff is all about £10/litre in bulk! so that Smith and Allan oil looks even better value. I might get some ordered.

Just to say I normally buy the 20 litre size from Smith & Allen. Doesn't take up that much room in the garage and it's surprising how quickly it's used up. It may be worth buying a cheap pump or siphon though as it's not the easiest size from which to pour. Regarding engine oil capacity IIRC it's 4ltrs incl. the filter. I always prime the filter separately before screwing it up - surprising how much it will take if you let it soak in and it means less pressure drop on first start-up. HTH. Cheers, Pewe

I went for 5/30 fully synth. does a better job at consistent high revs lubricating the hydraulic lifters, so I'm told anyway.
