Opie is pretty good with the oils they suggest so it's probably 99% right.

this is a can of worms, Everyone has a different answer and everyone demands their answer is right. However 10w40 has never steered me wrong (unlees used to replace power steering fluid)

10w40. 30 is too thin. A 5w40 or 0w40 gives a better level of protection if you can find it.. but it's expensive.

5w40 fully synthetic is what I'll be putting in mine when I get around to servicing it. Generally around £40/4ltr but euro car parts often have castrol edge for around £25.

You only live once. Simple if you know, but i had to google it being older maybe and found this, noted has been disabled from linking so cut n paste maybe or click the title(open another tab) to watch on you tube, It can be funny not understanding but when you are confronted by someone speaking in tounges on your doorstep or a foreign language thousands of miles from home,it can also be quite scary, especially if they are obviously very upset or anoyed and you have been doing twice the local speed limit, maybe. No offence intended Corders Oh and oil, whatever is the cheapest for me these days.

I always use 10/40 semi. Firstly I think the thinner oil in our old cars (mk1) is the cause of many a smoky engine. Secondly any modern oil is way superior to the oil available when our engines were designed.
