My fuel gauge has been intermittent of late, sometimes working, sometimes not. I investigated the sender end and found the loom had been cut and then twisted back together, soldered that and helashrinked it but the problem persisted. I pulled the binnacle and found a bit of flux like corrosion on the Rev counter part of the circuit film, cleaned it off with alcohol but to no avail. However, looking at the rear of the binnacle, the extreme right hand track marked “fuel” goes down to an earth point on the binnacle, this wasn’t exactly loose but it wasn’t tight either, removed it, cleaned the circuit and the small screw with alcohol and did it up tight, voila! A working gauge. Hope that’s useful to someone, I was on the verge of buying a replacement sender unit....
