IIRC it's legal because it just detects the presence of tetra waves (or whatever they're called) rather than any content within them - it's not disimilar to your mobile phone detecting a wireless network is nearby; it knows it's near but not what's already being transmitted via it.

It's not worth it, you can get TETRA detectors for much cheaper if you want one, but the emergency services are moving to 4G next year anyway making this redundant. The range of Laser is longer than the TETRA scanner so you'll get pinged by a speed gun if it's a long straight road, before you've picked up the TETRA.

It's not the same product as Blu Eye but the "technology" behind it is the same.
