Has anyone owned one or have any experience with them?
I'm interested to hear thoughts on both the 2.0 Turbo and 3.2 V6 (the £540 tax one)

My brother has a MK1 quattro, 1.8Turbo with allegedly 200 and something horsepower.
I've driven it a few times and quite frankly it's boring.
Quite a heavy chunky car for the size of it, and not very quick either. Think weighs around the same as my Saab barge!!. I've never thrown it around that much mind, so it might be Ok on the twisty bits. Pretty planted on the motorway though and his has 6 years which probably keeps the economy down a bit. He's had it a couple years now and it's been generally reliable, had to change the coils last month and it eats through front tyres like any warm FWD car does. Interior is quite a nice place to be, massive compared to an mx5!!
Hope that helps a little. Not sure on differences in mk1 and mk2 so maybe not!

My other half has a 2015 MK3 Quattro s-tronic and it's prarrie canoe. Ok, ok...'prarrie canoe' is probably a little harsh It's actually an excellent automobile in many respects and I'd take it over my 5 any day of the week to schlep up the motorway. It's no drivers machine though, it's too detached. Sure, it goes where you point it but you don't ever feel that you're the one in control...there's always the feeling that there's a 'system' at work between you and the tyres. Visibility is poor; high and deep doors, very deep dash, so consequently it feels a lot bigger than it is. Although it's quick and fun can be had, ultimately it's not very satisfying to hustle down a B road. No idea about the MK2 though, sorry
