Hi all,
I have read that a lot of the wider buckets seats just don't fit in MX5's due to the limited space at the shoulder level. I'm not the narrowest chap and most standard buckets are too tight. Can anyone recommend a low-mid cost bucket (Ideally <£300) thats wider than average that will go in a Mk2.5 - looking at seats with a slider rather than fixed?
I'm about 16st, 5'10" so not that tall, fairly wide in the hips and shoulders.
Also, can anyone recommend anywhere in Surrey/Hants/Berks (in on the boundary of all three counties) that I can go try any suggestions out before purchasing?
Thanks.

I'm a fat bastard myself... . I'm unsure you will ever find a wide-enough bucket. "Sports seats" however...

Hey Rich, There's not many options... Corbeau LE or LE Pro may be an option - LE is an elise clone, LE Pro Exige clone. Low sides so should be easyish to get in/out of, and quite a few mounting options as you can get off the shelf elise adaptors for the standard rails... I was looking at an LE Pro to replace the passenger 'snug' seat in mine.. Even with sports seats, quite a few are tough to fit as they tend to be saloon car sized so thick bases and wide shoulders. I tried a few before I got the RS Recaro and couldn't find any that fitted well

Perhaps I need to sit in your drivers seat again and see what thats like....

The RS Recaros are like rocking horse poo though, and when they do come up for sale they are stupid stupid money. There was a set on ebay a few weeks back for well over 2 grand!!
Second hand elise seats might be an option, but they are pretty expensive as well...

www.nengun.com/recaro/sr-7-seriesI've got the SR-7 SK100 in my white car, the seat is usable even with a roll cage that has a leg down the back... I had to make some mods to make it more comfortable, mostly removing the lighter socket from the left of the steering column. not a problem on a mk2.

They will be hard work on a street car - the high sides will make it hard to get in/out past the steering wheel.
When I had the passenger seat on the drivers side I needed a removable steering wheel to enter/exit reasonably gracefully...
