Knobs - Length - girth - weight?

Just wanted to share my knob experience. 

I've noticed a very different shifting experience depending on weight and feel...


I thought I'd try and rate them given 4 basic criteria:
Weight - for me the best weight seems to be around 200g
Shift experience - largely based on the weight
Comfort - hard, soft, freezing or burny
Feel in the hand - How the know feels as your hand moves around it.

Left to right:
Pokemon ball 54mm 112g
1 star for weight
2 stars for shift experience
4 stars for comfort
5 stars for feel in the hand

Tall stainless 240g
5 stars for weight
3 stars for shift experience
3 stars for comfort
2 stars for feel in hand

Voodoo 50mm 169g
4 stars for weight
4 stars for shift experience
3 stars for comfort
4 stars for feel in hand

Piston 198g
5 stars for weight
3 stars for shift experience
2 stars for comfort
2 stars for feel in hand

Anyone else want to show and rate their knob?

I should do something similar. I happen to really rate the original mk1 knob, btw. But I rock the joyfast medium now.

I like the Joyfast - good choice! What does it weigh?

My old oem knob was 175g, which was good. I think the 6-speed box feels better with something slightly heavier though... 200g is the magic number for me.

There are 3 models.. they're steel.



Long (439g)

Short (396g) (aka medium) is what I've got. mm heavy enough

Super Short (297g)

I guess I should to add a heavy knob to my list just so I can compare to the others.
