Found this thread by accident and thought it could be a useful reference point!

Was looking around at options because apparently my LED versions won't pass the MOT this time round, what with not having a beam pattern similar to standard (despite not ever causing anyone to flash me!) and found this site - looks good in terms of OE-ness, and the output looks reasonable:

I'm not sure what the difference between the different glass lenses, or if they do RHD-spec lenses...

Just stumbled on an offering of LED headlights from IL Motorsport, which are actually E marked (and, I presume, therefore legal!):

They need to be 'E' marked (along with some number in a circle that I can't remember) to be fully road legal - there's a million chinese LED lights available which claim to be legal which technically aren't, and also have rubbish light output..

The NA headlights are the same as Defender lights, so any of the millions of Defender suppliers have lots of options. I have Trucklite LEDs on my v8 110 which are a massive step up from the clear Raybrig/Wipac style lights with uprated bulbs (which are now on my NA).

Just to copy across from another thread so I can find it again this is the info on the Wipac 7" lights that seem to be new




I noticed that that latest Aston Martin Victor one-off seems to have what looks like 7" front headlights made by Wipac, though, which would presumably have excellent light output and beam patterns etc... I might drop them a line...

EDIT: Seems remarkably coincidental that Wipac have apparently just launched a new 7" retail unit!

Seems to show the beam pattern in this review / info article - looks markedly better than a chinese cheap effort... lol. The output seems to be 45000 candela - which I presume is quite bright!

This is true... lol

But having already had to shell out 160 quid for two tyres after dropping into a bomb crater disguised as a pothole because my headlights are weeeeak on dipped beam and I was being blinded by yet another bloody Audi's headlights: they would seem good value... lol


Oh, and the balancing place confirmed that my wheels are mostly 50p pieces, so that's a replacement set of alloys needed and likely the best part of another 80 quid to swap the tyres over...
