1.6 NA Exhaust Manifold - got one spare? Recommend a seller?

As per title, has anyone got a 1.6 NA exhaust manifold laying about?

Or can point me towards a seller?


(Do all the 1.6 NA engines (i.e. 90bhp UK / 115bhp JDM) have the same exhaust manifold?)


Just thought I'd post up because my mechanic commented previously that my exhaust manifold is apparently well past its best and looks to have been welded numerous times...

Suffolk Mazda haven't got any.

Ultimately I think I need the OEM version because my AKAutomotive exhaust is designed to mate with the OEM manifold (because of racing class rules) and I have no guarantee that any of the SS verions will actually terminate at the correct location (or with the correct connection?)...

Derp, I sold my RS*R 1.6 mani last year after fitting the Maxim Works. the RB and JR headers are meant to be quite good.

the 1.6 from any year should be OK based on this:

i.e. the 1.6 manifold is the same whether it is an NA or NB... - just make sure you get all the bits between the engine and the cat. the standard mani appears to be a 2-parter.

I love the character of the soundtrack although I'm pretty sure it's got louder as it's got older... lol

I will pop the bonnet and confirm my thinking - IIRC it's designed to be used in a race series with strict regs on changing the manifold, so I think they just have designed it to replace everything bar it!

I have my 1.6 RS*R manifold that will be going up for sale soon. I had a new stainless steel flexi section welded on about a year ago which brought it up about 1/2" short so I used two manifold spacers with gaskets which I will include. It matches up to a standard 375 cat. It's the top manifold in the picture

Flexi section is a great idea for taking some strain off the bolts/hangars. Is it a loud system? lol

I completely forgot to check the AK fitment today so I'll confirm tomorrow what I need!

the RS*R is 4-1 and doesn't make any difference to noise, it's really the cat/decat, mid-box and rear box that do noise reduction stuff.

Top one is the RSR-R. What's the bottom one ? looks sexy.

Bottom one is a MX5parts exhaust, looks good but sounded really tinny and didn't fit very well either. You could tell the quality difference as it weighed about half what the RS*R did !
hence I went back to the RS*R and found a shop that would weld in the new section for me, it wasn't noisy at all.

Just coming back to this, I was looking again at some of the SS options on ebay and it looks like all of the four above would be direct replacements for the manifold and I could just store/sell the downpipe section because I don't need it with the AK system.


However, it looks like all four come from the same area (Lancashire):

If they'd be willing to sell the manifold only for a bit less money, I'm tempted to give it a punt if the welding is not terrible - looks like secondhand OEM kit is about £40, so if it's not that much more for SS...

I'd also want to confirm that the manifold/downpipe arrangement is as per OEM, so there'd be no issues with fitting to the AK system.

I doubt theres any power ot torque gain from a 'chineesium' oem copy?

if you want a manifold to fit a 1.6,  maybe message this seller & offer on this one (obviously avoid the system )

I think you're right about there being no performance benefits from a SS copy of the OEM manifold - I guess I was just thinking it could be an option that's easier than finding a good original part! There are some that pop up on ebay for about 40 quid but usually collection only, annoyingly. I will have to drop some of the breakers a line, I think.


Thanks for the link for the HKS Not sure it would work with the AK exhaust, though, unless I want to chop and weld one of them! lol

I guess I could do that but I'd have to get the garage to do it!
