I've searched for hours and got nowhere. I know I can switch one with a relay but there must be a simpler way (?)
So how do I wire in a pilot light to an on off circuit.

I'm suffering from some kind of terminology fail. Pilot light? What is it you want to achieve?

Just put a bulb in series in the circuit

Not sure that in series would work, one of the switches will operate the heater fan and could draw 20 amps, a little more than my LED could stand

Went to see an auto electrician today, and he explained how to wire them, tbh it's so bloody obvious once someone who does it for a living gives you a quick lesson.
Positive side of the led to the negative side of the switch, negative wire of led to ground. No relays diodes etc etc required just connect it to the right side of the switch and Bob's your uncle.
No to find out if I can turn one on using both sides of a momentary switch (think electric window switch and one led lights up for both up and down)
The VU meters and control circuit are going straight to the electrician lol

Depends on whether the switch is on the positive or ground side of the load. LED needs to be in parallel with the load (and run at a similar voltage to the load, usually 12V).
