my first trip watching WRC, fantastic drive through stunning countryside to get there. (Mx5 trip through Wales next year!!) stayed in Aberystwyth Friday night, Bangor Saturday. what we saw of the cars was brilliant but the organisation was not good, getting spectators into and out of car parks (which are basically along b roads and forest tracks) was a shambles, bad signage and nobody really helping. One of the main areas to watch at Halfrin was full early sat am so forcing more people than they could cope with to other areas. the special stage at Colwyn bay was a waste of time and money and a visit the Rally HQ and Service at Llandudno also proved to be a bit crap. We were newbies and we made some errors ourselves and learnt lessons. The Scandies and Eastern Europeans just wander where they want - ignoring marshalls - to the extent that they had to cancel a stage because spectators would not move!! Wales Rally GB are happy to take your cash but do f all for you! Highlight for me was having Thierry Neuville following me for an hour from special stage at Dyfi to Colwyn Bay - I couldn't bait him into racing an old bloke in a Jag😁😉

Sounds like a bit of an experience, which is at least better than something 'meh'!

Yup, you are right, I came away with the feeling that overall I enjoyed myself and armed with a bit of experience we’d do it better next year. If nothing else it was worth going just for the drive - some of the roads in mid and north wales are epic. Also, until you see the WRC cars “live” you don’t realise how unbelievably fast they drive. They must have huge nuts of steel!🤣
