My car has leaked oil since Ive got it, and it's only ever got worse. Funnily enough my last car also leaked oil too, and ive recently heard the alarming fact that if I pit the wrong coolant in the car it could cause degredation of the seals and all sorts of nightmares....
anyway, my old and new cars leaked oil, and both cars were run on pink coolant after engine swaps, and I get the bad feeling that both cars went the same way and this one now also wants a headgasket.
Have I caused this with my coolant choice, and what steps to I need to take now?

lift the head & find out? theres plenty of engines available cheaply IF the head is erroded BUT I'm gonna guess it's ok as theres lots of metal around the waterways on the heads gasket surface (from the 1.6 & earlier 1.8's I've seen) a days work if the head is still flat & not needing a skim or other work? is it 1.6 or 1.8? if early / mk1 1.8 then I've a spare head..... Rich.

It's probably the CAS o-ring
Do what I do and keep topping up until you forget during a trackday and it spins a shell

I changed my CAS O ring three times, it still leaked, turned out it was the head gasket at the bell housing end...

I'm going to order a CAS o-ring and stick it on, for the sake of a couple of quid and what looks an easy job I'll start there before I pull the head.
Is it true that the wrong coolant can cause damage, and should I be swapping the pink out now before things get any worse? Doctor google is making me paranoid!

I've been using the pink/red stuff for the last 7 years with no problems.

I use Prestone coolant from Costco - it's cheap and doesn't turn to goo if it ever comes into contact with any other coolant type.
If you swap from pink to blue you will probably need to flush it out very very well as the two different types can react as above...

Just go and buy super coolant from Mazda, it’s the right stuff and cheaper. Part number is :- C100 CL 05A 4X Super coolant concentrate green I paid £16.99 for 5ltrs. Mix it 50/50 with water..
