I did my first competitive sprint of the season on 26 July, at North Weald (an old airfield in Essex). It's not a sophisticated place, the course is marked out with cones and the surface is very bumpy and rough, but it was fun nonetheless! I cocked up the first timed run so only got one proper run in, but at least it was quicker than my practice runs, and I ended up 2nd in class.
I've entered another sprint at North Weald on Sunday 6 September in case anyone wants to join (need an MSUK Speed licence or higher, and Blue Book approved clothing, extinguisher, timing strut etc).

Second in class again yesterday, beaten by 0.2s by another 1.6 MX-5, a mk2. He came to talk to me afterwards, asked what mods I had on my car. Just coilovers and an induction cone filter thing on mine; his had ITBs, head work, new cams, launch control...sounds expensive! Will sort out videos soon.

Oh and he had semi-slick tyres too, mine were Michelin Pilot Sport 3s! All these excuses....

I like your steering wheel - I'm thinking of going deep-dish myself!
Do you have to have your roof up when doing it? I don't fit with the roof up *without* a helmet... lol

Don't have to have the roof up, but I thought it was probably more aerodynamic so left it up. Anyone know for sure? I am racing driver sized, which doesn't always help in life but is good in karts and lightweight cars

I'm not sure aerodynamics matter too much when you're half sideways lol Thanks for the name of the wheel They have a reasonable selection and aren't silly money! www.kodeshop.co.uk/steering-wheel?page=6
