Question to all the knowledgeable are rhd & lhd wipermotors interchangable? what I mean is the direction of rotation NOT their inclination on the bulkhead (or the mount bracket) I'm considering shifting the wipermotor from the standard rhd / passanger position to the drivers side as this opens more space for the drysump oil tank that I'm looking ar fitting where the standard heater blower assembly lives and if I re-locate the wipermotor & it's linkage it gives more room... probably a non-starter but Rich.

I think the direction of rotation is the same, but the sweep on the screen may be different, but that is controlled by the linkages?? I need to do a bit of digging, not swapped wiper motors around since the 90’s. ISTR in some cases it was just a matter of relocation, the holes may already be there, filled with a grommet, then just fix the linkages. It will be the screen area that is wiped that will be out. Don’t know if that will affect mot....

there is an imbossing / pressing on the bulkhead where the lhd motor lives, holes would need making though... as to the old Lucas setup, I've a few of those as I have an '86 Landrover Ninety & a '65 MG Midget the wheelboxes are available in diferent 'sweep' ratios so a flexible system BUT theres a weight penalty as its a heavy setup Rich.

So is an oil reservoir and dry sump system...

the drysump setup complete is comparable to the wieght of the standard sump with oil, remote oilfilter & oilcooler, any extra wieght will be minor BUT the better oiling will make up for this. also no breather system needed as the 2-stage scavange should keep the crankcase near to (or, if all things are perfect, actually ) in a vacuum the ds setup will not be using a standard oilpump (- some wieght?) and the crankshaft's waterpump / alternator pulley is a small diameter aluminium item not a heavy steel standard / aftermarket damper... and the engine wieght is less with the smaller diameter AP Racing multiplate clutch & a flywheel of about 2 & a bit kg.. and I'm ~16 stone anyway, back to wipermotors...... Rich.

No offence, but that reminds me of a caterham owner I once met in Southend, he was sending his car back to have a daihatsu alternator fitted to save weight, he was about 18 stone, how he got in the car I will never know, he took offence when I suggested eating fewer pies would have been more cost effective, and probably saved more weight. I’m currently 16.5 stone thanks to drugs, but I live in hope...🤪
