Annoying Rattle

Hi. I have a 2014 1800 sport venture with the folding metal roof. Once the engine is warm a 'light' but noisy metallic rattle persists at around 1800 rpm. It appears to come from the centre of the car. I have had it checked by an exhaust fitter - no fault found with the system. He thought it came from near the front cat; I wonder whether there is a loose heat shield in the vicinity. It's literally driving me nuts. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Heat shield sounds very likely, they're big fans of rusting away on most cars and getting loose
