Hi there Zed.
Some time ago you did a 'spread' on gearing and diff ratios etc.
where it is I don't know but I'm looking for it here in the forum.
Can you show me where it is please?
I'm looking to up my gearing just a bit and need to look at available ratios for my NB 1.8 YM 1999.
I am not looking for an lsd specifically.
I don't want to change my 15" wheels and do it that way I want to change the diff.
My aim is to get my third gear to run just a bit faster because a lot of my track driving uses third a lot.
I realise that a diff change will affect all gears.

Rich. this one? mighty5s.com/thread/3845/gearing-calculationsrandom bored prarrie canoeposting time, been playing with gearing calculators comparing different gearboxes (5 & 6 speed Mk1 & mk2) so thought I'd share.  4.3:1 diff.  4.1:1 diff.  3.9:1 diff.  3.6:1 diff. can see the 5speed & 4.3:1 carries similar 1-5 gear speeds as a 6speed & 3.6:1 but the 6th gear works out as a motorway / overdrive / cruise gear. also, if you're a masochist....  this is the 4.778:1 (Kia Sportage front diff) gearspeeds. the calculator I've used is zealautowerks.com/transcalc.phpan although it's a Honda biased webpage the ratio's & tyre sizes / engine speeds are user-defined so universal  Rich. I'm too lazy to escape and I'll probably get sidetracked into something far more dangerous  and I've a prooven track-record for reckless behavour so the aforementioned preposterous manner would probably be of my own making.......  Bit too much Disaronno maybe? It's a bottle an evening isn't it? is there a limit  as someone who gets great ideas on a daily basis, looking at rotrex is an expensive & possibly silly idea although if those numbers are correct  Rich. |
