I'm gathering bits for an ITB conversion on my Eunos 1.6, and everyone says to get an ECU that your favourite tuner likes to work with - well I haven't got an ECU or a tuner yet, so to avoid doing it the wrong way round I wondered if anyone has a recommendation for a tuner somewhere near the M20/M25/M26 triangle I could call and talk to about it? I know there are remote tuners as well but given my inexperience with this sort of thing, I think someone who can physically check the setup and make/recommend whatever changes are needed would be a better bet.
Anyone got any go to guys in the area?

Haris used McCribb (wheelynutz) (ex?) bunch SRD in haywards heath. I've gone Link G4X for both my cars now. I think the price is good for what you get. Haris is now on a Link, tuned by the afformentioned too and it's good. With an ITB setup I'd recommend just getting the 'drivable car' and correct parts to the appropriate tuner to do the install themselves. Obviously tell them what parts you've got and ask them to verify they'll actually work Or just share the parts list with us and we'll tell yer.

Thanks, that's not a million miles away. Also a remote tuner was recommended on one of the FB groups, digitune.co.uk - he only works on ME ECUs. Are Link twice as good for twice the price?

If you have the slightest problem with the ME (and the chances are high, let me tell you... the experiences we've got collectively, I've been lucky but I know perhaps 4 people who've been Canoeed over in one way or another by ME's products their attitude to their products)
If you don't want to stretch for Link, MegaSquirt are excellent and Bofi sells those.
I'm fairly sure SRD can tune Megasquirt, it's a really common budget option.

Heya, Sorry I was meant to reply earlier - Hope I'm not too late. In my opinion the Link G4X is the way to go. My car was running an ME221 (without ITB's just on the stock plenum) and the car behaved really odd. Granted I had a first gen ME221 but I wasn't happy with how the car behaved. I don't think it had anything to do with a "bad tune" - car made good power, drove okay most of the time but it always did some weird things like not idle correctly (idle drop when coming to a stop), low load cruise driving was quite tough. I had the original tuner, SRD, and a few other competent friends who hobby tune try to iron things out but they always commented to say the ECU wasn't playing ball. Also, when the fuel pump primed, it never stopped (just an ME221 thing apparently) so the fuel pump was constantly on instead of priming and stopping. Not sure how else to explain it, but let's say for example I have a crash and a fuel line bursts, I can guess it'll probably just be pissing fuel out the lines at full speed and I would die in a fire. Fun. The issues could have been due to the Gen 1 ME221 and I believe the later versions have revised hardware or something so maybe they're better now? But yeah ever since the Link G4X has been installed with the Jenvey ITB's my life has been so much better. Mike @ SRD did a cracking job at mapping, car idles dead on 900RPM. Doesn't drop at all. Town driving and light load stuff is way better than OEM and miles better than the ME on a stock intake. Cruise is excellent. It feels OEM+ - So much peace of mind honestly. And the best part is with the Link you can have your RPM gauge sweep on startup, it's so lit yo. Do a Link. Don't look back. Thanks, that's not a million miles away. Also a remote tuner was recommended on one of the FB groups, digitune.co.uk - he only works on ME ECUs. Are Link twice as good for twice the price?

Whatever you do, don't get an ME221. I had a full turbo conversion done by them, and even they couldn't tune the car right, and they designed the bloody thing! Didn't help they used fake rx8 injectors either!

Thanks guys, ME221 is out for sure Someone on FB is selling a brand new Megasquirt 2 with a Spartan wideband for £500, never used. I'm pretty tempted...
