Trackday YouTube:
I want to get this bit out of the way first - This car has been recorded as a Cat C write-off. I believe that this may have been recorded incorrectly as there is no evidence of chassis damage on the car. There are tell-tale signs that this car was in a frontal collision at some point in its life (radiator mounting has been replaced, front bumper / wing replaced) However the repairs were completed to a high standard. Regardless, I’m not lowering the price based on this. If you import a car from Japan, you don’t know whether it’s been in an accident, if it’s been repaired well or not, stuck together with JB Weld etc etc. Happy to show anyone around the car if they’re curious as this is the cleanest MX5 I’ve owned, and I’m on my 6th now!
If you're still here, great!
I’ve always known that once I built my ultimate Roadster, there will be a day when I feel like it’s time to move on from MX5’s and explore what else the automotive world has to offer. Even though the recipe provided by Mazda is flawless (come fyt me), there is a whole plethora of cars that need to be explored and if I carry on with the one car for the rest of my life, there will always be a “hmm what if I tried this, wish I drove that, I guess I’ll never know” and I don’t want that. If I could keep this, along with getting something else, I would but I don’t get paid enough to have an MX5 AND a Lambo.
So for (what I am already regretting) sale, is my 1991 Mazdaspeed B-Spec Eunos Roadster.
I purchased the car in summer 2018 on a whim as I saw it come up on eBay and spied the Mazdaspeed plaque and a few other telltale signs that this is a spicy Roadster. Went to see the car just to entertain my thoughts and was sure that the pictures might have been hiding a load of rust or something sinister however to my surprise it turned out to be one of the cleanest MX5’s I’ve ever seen, intact wishbone bushes, no rust, factory spot welds on the arches etc, with the correct spicy Mazdaspeed parts to boot. After a test drive it was obvious the car didn’t have a standard engine, and did skids for days. So I bought it.
Throughout my ownership it has been looked after, serviced regularly and has only been maintained with OEM / Quality aftermarket parts. I have not fitted any junk to this car. Mileage is only 123,000 KM’s, that’s about 74,000 Miles. This will rise as I still drive it.
This used to be my daily driver and was used to commute pretty much every day, without missing a beat. As we now have a small car for daily duties, I now only really use it on the weekends, for trackdays and is purely a car for super fun time enjoyment. The last full trackday being the July Mighty5’s Llandow day, the car drove there and spent most of the day out on track, drove back the next day with a small detour through the Black Mountains with no issues whatsoever all the way back to London.
For those of you who don’t know what the Mazdaspeed cars are:
Mazdaspeed was an independent tuning company in Japan that started as “Mazda Sports Corner” in 1967 and produced a bunch of modified NA’s amongst other cars. They were acquired by Mazda in 1983 and rebranded as Mazdaspeed. Customers who ordered Eunos Roadsters were able to spec their factory fresh car with a bunch of Spicy Mazdaspeed parts from Aero kits, exhaust systems, all the way to high performance engine packages. My car in particular was fitted with the B-Spec “Stage-2” package, details of which will be listed below.
I’ve gone through some documentation that I have with the car from its previous owners, and I think the car was imported in 2008. I’ll have to double check this.
Below is a list of the Aftermarket modifications on the car. I’ve split this between the Factory Mazdaspeed parts, and other Aftermarket additions. I may have missed a few things, but please ask if you want anything clarified.
Mazdaspeed (Car Number MS11-20145) B-Spec (Stage II) Factory fitted performance upgrades:
Mazdaspeed 9B1A Camshafts (256IN @ 9.5mm lift / 256EX @ 9mm lift)

Mazdaspeed front and rear Tow Hooks

Mazdaspeed ECU (Removed but boxed)

Link G4X ECU Fitted and mapped at SRD Tuning in Horsham
Deatchwerks DW200 Fuel pump with Hardwire kit
Bosch EV640cc injectors (overkill flow, but excellent spray pattern)

Honestly this car is so good, it's so SO got damn good. The suspension setup is great. It's so forgiving and balanced. When you're on the limit of grip the thing is just so easy to do whatever the hell you want it to do, once you get that perfect slip angle around a fast corner and you can balance the car on the throttle my god man this thing is just FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU.
God damnit, I'm selling this back to myself. Why am I even selling it you ask? I live in London, therefore ULEZ. I'd be keeping this for another couple of years, or forever, but alas. Canoeing Canoe ULEZ. What a waste of air our mayor is. That, and like I mentioned before I need to try other things. Other things that will kill me. Backwards. Into a tree. Potentially.
I would like £9,250. No silly offers. I’m in no rush to sell. If it don't sell, then I guess I'll just pay ULEZ and not have a Lamborghini. I am making a stupid loss, so this could be your gain.
I still have the Factory Mazdaspeed ECU, Dampers and the rest of the bits to return the car to factory B-Spec along with some other MX5 goodies / spares - Can negotiate this box of goodies on price etc etc.

I always wanted an ITB Roadster, and the Jenvey Kit works exceptionally well with the high compression engine. It was mapped at SRD and made 160HP at the crank. The most important thing is the map is absolutely flawless on part throttle and town driving. Mike @ SRD did an excellent job at all the low load stuff. The car feels OEM+ and so responsive. The noise, my god the noise. It makes an absolute HONKING noise at full chat. Most of the parts are ready to go for E85, the only things that will need replacing are the engine bay fuel hoses which are rated for E10 so that’s ok, and a Flex Fuel sensor. There is a map switch mounted under the steering wheel trim, one setting is for 95 fuel, and the other setting is for 99 Hi Okku fuel (Shell V-Power etc) so you don’t need to run the car on high okku all the time. Oh, and when the exhaust is hot and everything is all up to temp, after giving it sumfuk the car sometimes shoots GIANT THWONKING BIG YUUUGE BALLS OF YELLOW FIRE THAT MAKE EVERYTHING IN YOUR MIRRORS FLASH when you let off the throttle.
Bodywork:
There are a few flaws with the paintwork but overall the car is in very presentable condition. There is lacquer burn on the driver side front wing, and slight peeling on top of doors. I might try and re-laquer this depending on how much time I have. Leading edge of the bonnet has aluminium corrosion, but I’ve wire brushed & used OEM Mazda touch-up paint to protect the bare metal underneath. The front bumper has quite a few stone chips, but it’s still green.
The driver side rear quarter was driven into by a neighbour, and this was subsequently repaired to a very high standard. No filler, a proper dent removal and repaint of the whole quarter, and the whole rear bumper was also resprayed. The colour match is identical to the rest of the car - I also have pictures of the repair process. I’ve taken care of the paint work as best as I can. I’ve performed some driveway paint correction / detailing with clay bars, DA Polishers, and paint sealants and the car is regularly washed. I try to avoid using the car when the roads have been salted, but if I do, I usually pressure wash the underside of the car when I get back home. Speaking of the underside, there is no rust under the car at all. Of course there is surface rust on subframes, and other suspension components but nothing out of the ordinary at all. The whole shell is completely solid, the factory spot welds on the rear arches are still visible, and all up the inside of the rear sill is completely flawless. The underside of the car has NOT been undersealed and isn’t hiding anything. I have used an anti-corrosion cavity spray thing on the inside of the car. Can’t remember what it’s called but you attach a long tube thing to the nozzle of this aerosol can and spray the inside of the chassis from the grommet in front of the rear wheel, all the way down the inner sill of the car that helps to protect the bare metal inside from corrosion. I took the fenders off to clean up the leaves that always get trapped behind the arch liners because it's so poorly designed. There was some surface rust, but thankfully that was it. That area has been wire wheel brushed back to bare metal (photo of the wing off in google album) kurusted, Zinc primered and sprayed over. I hate rust.
Last issue is I also recently drove the passenger sill over a kerb as I was super tired and pulled over into a service station. I parked next to the kerb in the hopes I could save someone opening their door into mine - But in my continued state of tiredness I bonked the passenger side sill on the kerb. Fortunately the sill is strong and damaged the kerb more than the car itself, but the bottom of the wing is damaged. I've taken the wing off to inspect and behind it the chassis itself is absolutely fine - Very lucky! I am a derp. NEVER DRIVE TIRED!
The car is parked in a private gated carpark, so is safe from random road users and the horrible salt sprayers. The car has been inspected and has an agreed value with my insurance company, I'm asking for waaay less than this.

I would like £9,250. You can't build this spec for this price.

I have been open and honest about the car, I'm not hiding anything. I literally can not even hide anything anyways as apparently I have built a reputation for myself in the MX5 world and someone will know where I live. Oops.
I think this is time to move on from MX5 stuff.
