So during the winter my PAS started leaking fluid so I had to cut the belt to keep using the car (I couldn't be bothered to take it to a garage at the time) But the belt.. I hung onto it thinking 'ooh, this looks useful' and in particular because it was still in good condition (no fraying).. just cut. Finally, I found what I wanted to use it for. door pulls are ideally light, strong and best of all cheap (or in this case, free) to make :-) so old pulley belts are perfect and automotive-related I cut some lengths to 24cm then pierced them in the middle of the belt 7.5mm from each end and reamed them out to about 5mm with the old SAK reamer / horse hoof picker / sail repair tool. adjust the length to adjust how protruding you want it.. The results ? A wider engine belt would hide the nastyness behind the door card or I could buy some black plastic washers/spacers (might go look at B&Q now..)
