Hey all,
I just thought I'd start this thread because I tried one of these out the other day and they are amazingly comfortable
www.racetecheurope.co.uk/shop/seats/RT1000-motorsport-seats
I neeeeed one, because:
- they actually are spine shaped and support your back entirely,
- I need to sit lower in the car (so I can see out the windscreen...), and
- because everything else I've tried just hurts my back
(Seriously, our spines are not completely flat as a board or curved like a C-shape with shoulders pushed forwards and crushed internal organs, so why are 99% of bucket seats designed as such???)
One small issue, though, is that the wings look to be too big - going from everything I've trawled out of the nutz thread on seats that fit, most stuff is under 55cm wide (or whatever that is in proper inches) whereas the RT1000 is 61cm wide.
The chap at the place I tried it was nice enough to let me place one on the current OEM seat to see how it might fit, and as you can see below, there may be interference with the door trim...
but I am slightly confused because they are only about an inch wider on each side than a 55cm wide seat, which apparently should just touch the top section of door trim.
I have asked him to see about if the wings can be trimmed, perhaps as follows:
and he has said he will speak to a man who may be able to help.
However, I'm loathe to spend £400+ and then cut up a brand new seat so I'm hoping the chap I've found on a US forum, who has them fitted, will be able to advise if he's running without door cards and/or a 'modified' (with a big hammer) transmission tunnel. If there is a way to get them fitted without altering the seat, that will be awesome.
(Does anyone have pictures of the door with all the trim removed, so I can see how deep the top trim section is?)
I will have to report back when I find out more. It looks like they will fit under the door handles when mounted on side mounts:
although I think they may have to be custom sidemounts because the seat rail bolts through the floor appear to be spaced 13.5" wide, whereas the Racetech-supplied sidemount bolt holes are 17.5" wide if mounted with the bolts to the outside. (Has anyone got the JBFab mounts, and can confirm how wide they can be spread??)
I think it should clear the tranmission tunnel:
but again, I wouldn't know until it's bought, I've stripped the OEM seat out, chopped the wings off this new one, and then got cracking trying to fit it...
This is stressful lol
