What lap times are you getting at castle combe?
How do you drive it?
Its my favourite track to drive out of the tracks i have driven. Its The most dangerous track in the UK with some sketchy corners.
I lost my track virginity at combe so it will always be in my heart.

Yes!
I'm gonna try and do Combe exclusively this year and as many times as my wallet/car will allow. I popped my track cherry at Spring Action Day and loved it!
First time on track, pretty much standard Mk1 1.8 with 127whp, rubbish coilovers and road tyres and did around 1.36 or thereabouts. Was being held up by a 205 GTI for two laps which was properly annoying and he would not let me pass!
Loved the Esses and Bobbies, Avon Rise into Quarry was terrifying and I could have done with about 200 more BHP to properly spank Camp Corner.

I lost my track virginity at combe too I had just had my FM2 kit fitted but was still running stock suspension and cheap 14" tyres - It was damp and I almost crashed on the pit lane when accelerating to join the track!! I also seem to remember Skinny from Nutz lapping me at the end of my very first session I have an old video somewhere of a chap in a white mx5 doing a full 360 on the last corner and continuing like it was nothing (lucky) I had my then girlfriend now wife with me, and I couldn't hear her screams of terror so just kept going round and round hahaha.

I lost my virginity at combe exactly a year ago at spring action day 2016! This time was special. I was the first out on track for the whole day. Had a bit of a sentimental moment when i was out there. Glorious morning sun blues skies. Went on to do two full track days there last year. Both were excellent. I have lost count of how many laps and hours i have had there now. We have the same spec pretty much but i have decent tyres now. Was my first time with decent tyres. Really felt the difference after i had got the pressures right and they had a few heat cycles and scrubbed a bit. Highly recommend decent tyres!! People do tend to hold you up sometimes on purpose. I think its because then dont like the thought of being over taken by a hair dressers car lol. I love all of the corners. Fastest i have been through camp is 82mph but that was on a full day so i was in the zone! How does this even happen? lol too much man foot? I was eager and forgot I had 240 ponies.

Haha its alright i have seen a few people do this out the pits when its wet!

The thing to remember on trackdays is it's passing by invitation. People should let you past but if they don't you just have to lift off for a lap and build some space.
I've done a drive through the pits to come back out in clear space before.

Combe was my first trackday also, it was terrifying, missus popped her cherry there too in an alfa 156 Sportwagon ....and did a trackday...boom, boom Lap times for me that I remember. 220bhp Fiat Coupe, 1m 30 320bhp Fiat Coupe, 1m 26 180bhp Alfa GT diesel, 1m26 160bhp NC Mx5, 1m28 180bhp NC Mx5, 1m22 As my cars got slower I got faster through experience More to come with more practise there but reckon it very small bits now until I get more power.

Your lap times have significantly improved sandy through experience. Do you think you could be faster than the 5 now with your previous awesome horse power cars?
Horney you are totally right. I still think on track it takes a nasty to not let a faster car by. On the road i can tolerate and understand it. There is no place for any type of motor sport on the road.. Every time i am on track if i have the slightest hint that someone behind me is faster i move over.
In my experience i have been stuck behind some really fast cars that clearly have a problem with a faster mx5
i need to tone it down? i know that.. We cant all be race drivers. I know that it just sad because Where else to do anything like it other than on a track day?? But you cant actually do it on a track day!

Shun me? I am the track day ass Hole? Or am i just being real?track day politics.? Yeah Jack you're an ass hole I guess it all depends on if you can afford to have car to car contact and potentially write your car off just for the sake of saying you were quicker than.. If the guy in front is being a knob and not letting you past, do you really trust that car enough to try and overtake them without consent? What if they move over and block the move because they haven't seen you coming? You end up in the tyre wall with a broken car. Probably blaming the other guy for it. Would be easier to do a slow lap, let the brakes cool down and then go again back on the pace.

I've done a drive through the pits to come back out in clear space before. Yeah I get that, it was just annoying more than anything. Especially since it was limited track time. If it had been a whole day then it wouldn't have mattered. There was a point where me, this 205 and a Tailgate McNoIndicate were coming to Avon Rise three abreast, really the 205 should have let off so I could have pulled in front and let the Tailgate McNoIndicate past but instead, it was down to me to tuck in behind him, let the Tailgate McNoIndicate get through and have the 205 hold me up for another lap I don't know if he was also a novice driver or what but it would have been obvious to anyone as to what the deal should have been.

Action Days at Combe are the worst. There's always such a mix of abilities and attitudes.

Yeah action days are manic. People diving down the inside and overtaking any thing and any one. I recall on my first time on track i was a lamb to the slaughter going into quarry. About 5 cars were around me for the whole corner. prarrie canoeing myself on my first time!
And still to this day i had various very fast cars flying past me in the braking zones. I think the mcr lancer is the worst for it!
I am not a asshole on track really. Any thing coming up behind me i let by immediately. Anything that is really slow i wait for them to indicate out the way which they are usually clever enough to do.
All it takes is a indicator.. For me to follow a car for a few laps who is clearly not a novice and is clearly being blocking me, its hard to take that. They should not be on track if they have not been able to see me when i have been behind them for a few laps.
Can of worms eh
At japfest i will have a close eye on you oli and if i see you doing naughtys i will spank you.
